Baptists and Lent

The Lenten season is upon us. A few years ago I probably wouldn’t have paid much attention, but that doesn’t ring true today. After recognizing Advent and lighting candles for several years, I am grateful to have found meaning in the 40 day period of personal reflection and repentance called Lent.

It seems more and more Baptists are finding signficance in this recognition, meaning it’s not just for Catholics anymore. I came across a good article about this very thing, and you can find it here. It is helpful to spend more than just Easter Sunday considering what Jesus did for us through his life, death, burial, and resurrection. I hope that these next few weeks will be particularly meaningful for me and the church as well.

  1. Danny, I heard that a pastor suggested to his congregation that a good thing to leave off for Lent was not some food item, but “grumbling” so that is my effort! Wayne
