Last night President Obama mentioned the “generosity” of a bank president who gave his $60 Million bonus away to his subordinates because he didn’t feel right about it. Here is the story.
I would venture to say most Americans can’t relate to that kind of money, let alone a bonus. But, this incident reveals the greed that many CEOs have when it comes to their jobs. I wonder how many other bank presidents are receiving these kinds of bonuses when their banks are tanking.
This guy gave up this money without making a big deal about it, but getting a seat by the first lady during the President’s address to a joint session of Congress isn’t a bad deal. I guess this gives a new perspective on “giving up something for Lent.”
